Last night I watched Shooter (starring Mark Wahlberg, Danny Glover). I feel a slightly bi-polar trying to review this film. On the one hand, I would be remiss not to admit that much of the dialogue and directing is so cheesy that I felt embarrassed for everyone involved.
On the other hand, I had a good time. I started this movie feeling like I was watching The Fugitive, and I walked away feeling like I had just seen Rambo: First Blood. What's not to like about that?
Which leads to my suspicion that we may be in for a flashback to the Reagan-era from Hollywood. With an election on the horizon and the current political climate, I expect to see a lot more 80's-style action films. Whether or not this trend comes to pass... I guess we'll have to wait for Rambo 4 and Die Hard 4 to be released on video.
